MEXICO IN THE TIME OF CORONA #4
Dear Friends and Family, Old and New, Near and Far:
Who would have thought that almost a year later I would still be writing about life during the pandemic?? Here in Puerto Vallarta we are still sustained by the brilliance of the art in Natasha Moraga’s mosaic park project and the natural world that surrounds us. I am delighted daily by the flitting and darting of hummingbirds that come to the feeders on my terrace. Symbolically they carry meanings in numerous cultures. The Aztecs revere them as the guides who led them from Aztlan on their long migration to what is now Mexico City; they are also seen as healers, signs of good fortune, and “a symbol of strength in life’s struggle to elevate consciousness—to follow your dreams.” After this long year of delayed plans, for me, they spark a vision of hope.

LIFE AND LOVE GOES ON IN PUERTO VALLARTA
Without traveling more than a few blocks, I have witnessed life’s passages and celebrations on the beach below me.
Here is the quinceanera, sweet 15, in her lavender froth of a dress, perched on a rock preparing for the day when she will be Belle of the Ball.

And, the culmination of all this passion and attraction, the expectant couple poses for a permanent memory of their unborn child.

BLATANT REQUEST FOR HELP:
As you can see, I still love Mexico and in this time of travel difficulties and restrictions, it has been my favorite place to be “stuck” during the pandemic. Many of you ask questions about living and long term travel south of the border. To find out more about what you’d like to know, I’ve composed a brief survey. Please forward it to anyone you know who might be curious. And yes, it is a way to increase my mailing list and reach more people. Check it out HERE.

I hope this finds you joyful in where you are in the world, exercising your creativity, and surrounded by loved ones. Once again, remember to take care of your special selves, follow your dreams, and express your love fully to those around you. We are more perishable than we think.
Abrazos y besos,
Elena
